Republic of Croatia Square
During the last 150 years, the name of the square, firstly named the Fair Square, was changed for six times. The last name change from Marshall Tito Square to Republic of Croatia Square once again divided Croatia's folks.
The Square is, in a way, a daily destination for opera singer Dario Ćurić who works in the Croatian National Theatre.
"I noticed that the younger ones just pass by and comment something along the way. Basically, the older generation experience this way more intense", notes Dario.
While filming the story, our reporters Efecan Ayan, Emre Bozan, Kornelia Modry and Matea Petrović concluded that this name change was just an excuse for the political fight between left and right. The name of the square became a hot political issue in the last local elections. More important than crucial issues like employment or future.
"I think we live too much in the past, and too little in the future", Dario summed up.
